WOW, WHAT A SHOW! That pretty much sums up the 2008 Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber’s Southside Show-Biz Trade Show-2008. Thousands of visitors to the show were treated to a true “red carpet” experience which showed off the wide range of products and services offered throughout our region.

National’s General Manager, Erik Stegall and Marketing Director, Josh Stegall proudly staffed the company’s booth and had a great time seeing such a blend of new and familiar faces.   The trade show was National’s first opportunity to unveil the company’s new logo and to inform the show’s visitors of the many services that National provides to thousands of customers throughout the entire Southside region.

The brothers and third-generation managers of the Martinsville based firm handed out reusable shopping bags, scratch-pads and pens, all of which displayed the company’s now logo. Registering visitors also entered to win 1 of 10 free pest control treatments. Winners will be announced in the coming week. Thanks to all who came out and made the show so great! We look forward to seeing you again next year!

A Martinsville church (we won’t give the name here) recently came out with a real blooper in its monthly newsletter.  An upcoming meeting of church women was supposed to read: “The meeting will begin with a light breakfast at 8:30.”    But, opps!  When the newsletter was published, it came out:  “The meeting will be gin with a light breakfast at 8:30.”

Most homeowners aren’t too excited about going into their crawl spaces.  Who knows what’s lurking in that dark, mysterious area under your house? It reminds us of an Andy Griffith Show where Barney and Gomer were trying to rebuild a bandstand for a Sunday concert in Mayberry.  Barney directed Gomer into the crawl space to shore up the leaning stand.   “But there might be spiders under there,” an apprehensive Gomer complained.  After failing to convince Gomer that the crawl space was spider-free, a flustered Barney ordered him to “quit your worrying, Gomer, and get down there with them spiders.”

National Exterminators has uncovered some pretty strange things in home crawl spaces.  We’ve encountered snakes, opossum, raccoons, squirrels and even bats.  Sometimes, while checking for termites and varmints, our men found mechanical problems.  Recently our termite detector, Amos Matney, discovered faulty duct work in a crawl space.  In essence, the heat was wasted being pumped into the cold crawl space, running up the homeowners heating bill.

Call National Exterminators today for an inspection.   You never know what’s going on in your crawl space!!!
